Grainthorpe Parish Council Meeting
Wednesday 11th March 2020, 7.30pm, at the Methodist Chapel Schoolroom
Minutes
Present: Councillor Drinkel, Hibberd, Lovatt and Pridgeon and County Councillor McNally and District Councillor Rickett
- Apologies were received and accepted from Councillors Bark, Jones and West. Councillor Jackson wishes to resign from her position with immediate effect.
- The minutes of the meeting held on 11th December 2020 were received, approved and signed by the Chair.
- Matters Arising:
- Environmental Award – no further action required.
- Parish Matters:
- Speed Limit – Austen Fen – the bridge is narrow, however the roads prior to this are long and straight, County Councillor feels that this stretch of road would not meet the criteria. Criteria to be sent to the clerk to be sent to the person in question.
- Grass Cutting – S Ensor has agreed to continue this year. Would like it completed every 3 weeks at the same rate of £75.00.
- County Councillor
Extra funding towards drainage repairs and flood response equipment, as well as highways. The new highways contract will changeover in April to Balfour Beatty. Recycling trial at Boston – paper and card. May be rolled out before the end of the year. There will ne a meeting in North Somercotes regarding the Horncastle Hub. Date to be advised, but expected to be 26 March.
- District Councillor
£4.95 per year increase on Council Tax on a band D property. Bin collections waste collections will change in April. Letters will be sent to those effected.

- Additional councillor – Mark Bensley and Russel Beech to be approached.
- Clerk replacement – District Councillor Rickett to approach the Clerk at Marshchapel.
- Street lights Fen Lane – all lights are out up to the school.
- Speed sign has moved locations.
- Mowing rota is in place. More helpers required.
- Fun run – 5th April 2020 – minor road closures throughout the village.
- Litter picker – a parishioner has requested the parish council purchase a litter picker in order to collect rubbish. There has been an additional volunteer. Two litter pickers to be ordered by Councillor West. High vis vests to be purchased and volunteers advised to wear.
- Church sign has arrived and is now in place.
- VE day 8th May – GCVA is replicating events happening nationally – 2.55pm.
